The Dental Assistant Diploma program at CHI Institute provides training in chairside techniques for assisting the dentist, taking dental x-rays and impressions, and using various dental instruments. You will also have the opportunity to study anatomy and physiology as it relates to dentistry; oral hygiene and preventive care techniques; and the use of dental cements, resins, and other restorative materials.  Prepare for a Dental Assisting Career 

Dental assistants support dentists by performing a variety of patient care, office, and lab duties. Specific duties may include:

  • Keeping patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices
  • Making patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair and instructing them on postoperative and general oral health care
  • Preparing trays of instruments, handing instruments and materials to dentists during procedures, and sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment
  • Taking dental x-rays and impressions

 Prepare for Certification Exams 

Certification is a process that shows that you have met established industry standards set by professional boards or government agencies. The Dental Assistant Diploma program at CHI Institute is designed to prepare you for national and state board radiologic certification exams that may be required by employers in your area.
